It's that time of year again, and we at Hazel May's keep doing what we do best, finding and licensing footage for you.

Could IPTV Change the Face of Television?

Here at Hazel May’s we License a lot of content for use on the internet already, so with the launch of YouView early next year, ‘freeview Mk. II’, or as BBC's director general Mark Thompson described it, "the holy grail" will we begin to see more content being licensed for the interent and IPTV?

“The IPTV revolution could see a dramatic change in how the country enjoys its television.” (1)

However, there is a lot of competition, and some say Apple TV has already failed, but with Google and Sony throwing their hats in the ring (2) too, whatever the outcome, we at Hazel May's will be ready.

Work, Play & the U.S.A.

So after a mad month in August which saw us find and license footage for not one, but three separate new clients, all from New York! U.S.A! Yes Ya'all!

And with all the usual jobs researching, editing mood films, and licensing footage for a selection of regular clients including Saatchi's, AMV, DraftFCB, and a new 'Brother' ad from Grey's (coming out very soon), even with all this going on, and more, Hazel managed to get a week off for her first holiday in three years!

A Yoga retreat in the beautiful Andalucia in Spain. Lovely!

More Awards with Mr Scorsese and EDF!

As many of you know, we at Hazel May's have been working on the EDF campaign with Euro RSCG London for some years now, and very successful it has been too!

However this year at the FOCAL International Awards 2010, we where awarded 'Best Use of Footage in an Advertisement' for EDF's ‘Olympic London’! It was produced for the 2012 Olympics using recycled footage from the archives of the Olympic Vault.



All of us at Hazel May's are understandably very proud and wish to share our moment with all our clients, and say a big thank you!

Oh! And why Scorsese? well, he was there too handing out an award for 'Best Archive Restoration'. Well, that was still pretty awesome for those of us sat next to his table!

Awards for Talent

All the staff here at Hazel May's are incredibly talented, but when they are not working here at Hazels, what do they do?

Andy Bloom is one of Hazels top researchers, but he is also a rapidly rising talent as a writer and director.
In fact his recent short film starring Mathew Kelly, Tom Hughes and Rob Ostlere has just been nominated for 'Best UK Short' at this years Hull International Film Festival

Well done Andy!

Trend Setters!

Hazel May and the team are limbering up for the new EDF job that is about to start, (take a look at one of the previous one's here) this time not one but two ads to source material for!

The funny thing is, that over the course of the last two years we have been working on these EDF ads, their original brief of re-using old clips, seems to have been so successful, all sorts of other brands are now following the trend.

Mood Films used on You Tube

A growing trend for the mood films we create for clients, is being asked to License the footage we have sourced for internet use on sites such as You Tube. A large proportion of our work is Licensing footage for all types of uses all around the world, so we are always happy to oblige.

TAKENtv

Jared, Hazel May's number two, like all of Hazel May's staff, is a very creative individual, when he's not manning the phones, sourcing footage for the latest EDF ad, or licensing footage for The Times, he can be found DJing in East London's trendy night spots or promoting one of his many live music events.

His latest venture, TAKENtv, is mixing his love of music and TV to produce a series of short sweet, funny and entertaining music shows with many of today's cream of the rising musical talent in London.

Our Freelance Editor (when he's not busy at the B'eeb, or hob-nobing with Richard & Judy)

Euan Donaldson is Hazel May's freelance Final Cut editor, he edits a large amount of the Mood Films, Brand Films and Promo's that clients come to Hazel May for.

When he's not working at Hazel May's, he works for a wide variety of other clients which have included the BBC, Richard & Judy Show, Al Jazeera, and currently is Program Editor on a weekly current affairs show on Sky 515 called The Rattansi & Ridley Show.

We got asked to create an in house video for the ultra cool and trendy Hospital Club in Covent Garden London, which we where very happy to do!
